Yaşam ve Doğa Bilimleri Fakültesi Dr. Öğretim Üyesi Oktay İ. Kaplan, dünya gündeminin ilk sırasına yerleşen Covid-19 salgınına neden olan Sars Cov-2 virüsünün insan hücresine nasıl girdiğini ve kendisini nasıl çoğalttığını anlatıp, Covid-19 teşhisinin nasıl konulduğunu hazırladığı videolarla anlattı.

Dr. Kaplan, hazırladığı ve seslendirdiği videolarda, kamuoyunda Koronavirüs olarak bilinen Sars Cov-2 virüsünün çoğalabilmek için konak hücre arayışı ile hücre içinde gerçekleştirdiği hareketlere ve Covid-19’un teşhisine değindi.

Virüsün hücreye girişini anahtar-kilit ilişkisine benzeten Dr. Kaplan, ayrıca virüsün kendisini çoğaltabilmek ve gerekli viral proteini üretebilmek için gerçekleştirdiği translasyon işlemi ile olgun bir virüs haline geliş aşamalarını da açıkladı.

Dr. Oktay İ. Kaplan, faculty member of the Life and Natural Sciences, talked about the Covid-19 pandemic, the current hot topic globally, and explained how the Sars-CoV-2 virus breaks into human cells and multiplies.

Dr. Kaplan prepared a video in which he touched upon the search of the Sars-CoV-2 virus, known as the Coronavirus in public, for host cells to replicate, what it does inside the cells, and diagnosis of the Covid-19.

Explaining the entry of the virus into a cell with a lock-key simile, Dr. Kaplan also dwells on the translation process of the virus to replicate itself and to produce the necessary viral protein and the steps of its becoming a mature virus.
